As someone who uses Postmates to secure dinner several nights out of the week, I wondered how it felt to be on the other side of the transaction. What's it like to be a Postmates courier, running around town doing strangers' bidding?
Postmates invited me to spend an afternoon following one of its couriers to find out. As a caveat, the company's employees placed the orders, so the experience may have varied from a courier's typical day.

Edgar picked me up from the Postmates' headquarters at 2 p.m., in the middle of his day-long shift. We hopped into his tomato red Mini Cooper.

Almost immediately, the Postmates app alerted us to a delivery request nearby. The user wanted shampoo and a toothbrush from Walgreens. We had an hour to complete the job.
